The Biltmore Estate 7 האחוזת בילטמור
Located outside Asheville, North Carolina, the Biltmore House is the largest privately owned mansion in the United States. With 250 rooms covering 16,300 sq. m of floor space, the building is a prominent Gilded Age icon and example of Châteauesque style architecture. George Washington Vanderbilt began construction in 1888 and it was completed around 1895. Today the house and the 32 sq. km grounds is owned by a descendant of Mr. Vanderbilt and is still a working estate. A famous tourist attraction, the house is restored to it's period splendor and functions as a museum, while the rest of the estate includes large garden and forest areas, a winery and a luxury hotel.
