North Western 481 WFS 252K

During 1988, North Western opened an outstation in Blackburn, on the premises of fellow Drawlane company, East Lancashire Coachbuilders. Services were operated to Shadsworth, Darwen, Wilpshire, Little Harwood, and Feniscowles.

This is 481, a former Lothian Regional Transport Alexander Bodied Leyland Atlantean on the service to Darwen. The vehicle behind, on Blackburn Transport's version of the service, is also an Alexander bodied Leyland purchased second hand from Scotland, in this case, a Leopard ex Kelvin Scottish.

Interestingly you can still travel from Blackburn to Darwen on an ex Lothian Double Decker, in the form of Transdev leyland Olympians, on the longer service 2.
