The beginnings of a Rule 30 scarf

This scarf is for my dad, who is a huge nerd so the pattern is cellular automata. I used the most popular and most intriguing rule set (rule 30) which has the familiar triangles in it. Every stitch is based on the three stitches under, to the left, and to the right of it on the previous row. Rule 30 (where 0 is white and 1 is colour) is as follows:

000 -> 0

111 -> 0

110 -> 0

011 -> 1

101 -> 0

010 -> 1

100 -> 1

001 -> 1

After a row of doing this, I'd picked up the rules easily and some larger patterns emerged that I've been able to use to simplify and speed up how I knit it. It's been a really fun pattern.
