Departure - 365 Day 155
So I'm back from Hawaii and Seattle. This morning I woke up at 6:00 am to get our i48 film on the way. The i48 is a Boise fil competition where you get a genre, line of dialog, and a prop Friday night at 6:00 pm and between then and Sunday at 6:00 pm you have to write, shoot and edit a short film and turn it back in. It's super fun, I've done it on the same team for the past couple of years and it's always been fun. Long days that's for sure, especially after getting back from a week long trip in Hawaii shooting a wedding and a long drive back to Boise from Seattle.
For this year our genre was road movie. It's a movie like Little Miss Sunshine. Where most of the movie is shot in the car or about a road trip. We pushed it a little bit and made it a road trip/horror movie. You can see the actual video here, It's called Departure.
This year was good. We made it to the best in show category where they play the films on the big screen and then we won the people's choice award and best actress award. Thanks to all the crew and all the hard work they put into it.
This shot was taken at the beginning of the long day at the Idaho State Penitentiary. That's where we started the day. It was cold and creepy in this old shut down penitentiary. We shot in the only remaining open cell. All the rest are welded shut.
