Boarding team from EU Naval Force combat support warship FGS BERLIN stopps a suspicious skiff - Feb 2012

A significant activity of EU Naval Force - Somalia is the location and apprehension of pirate action groups (PAGs) following sighting reports by merchant vessels and MPRAs.

When EU Naval Force - Somalia assets locate suspicious vessels and investigation confirms the suspicion, the PAG will be disrupted. This means action will be taken in order to render a suspected pirate group incapable of further pirate operation. Suspect pirates may be detained with the aim to transfer them to competent authorities to be prosecuted. Their equipment is confiscated for evidence.
