#StrongerTogether: the EU’s Civil Protection response to Coronavirus
“We left our families at home but we came here to help the European Union family. In these moments, it doesn’t matter if we are Romanians or Italians. We have to work together,” says Major Joe Stroescu, Head of the medical delegation of Romanian emergency rescue services.
The 15-strong team of Romanian doctors and nurses, who participated on a voluntary basis, arrived in Lecco, Italy, on 7 April 2020 for a deployment of 14 days, facilitated by the EU’s Civil Protection Mechanism.
