Afghan refugees: The path home
Neelab was only eight years old when she fled her home province of Faryab, in Afghanistan, to seek refuge with her parents and siblings in neighbouring Pakistan. Now a mother of two young children, she has decided to head back.
“I am still worried about the security situation, but as a married woman I need to go and join my in-laws”, she explains as I meet her in the waiting area of a UNHCR-run Voluntary Repatriation Centre near Peshawar, in northern Pakistan.
