323/365: 'A Day of Wonder'
“Life is partly what we make it, and partly what it is made by the friends we choose.” ~Tennessee Williams
Intrigued by an upcoming Filipino retrospective film titled 'Rosario'...
It's true that we can never choose our families, but we are wise if we make true friends. Some people win the friendship lottery, and I'm happy to admit that I am definitely one of those people. A friend can be the person you sat with in school, or the girl who played drums in your High School band. Friends can be old workmates, or selected members of your family or people you meet by chance in the most unlikely places. Friends can fade in and out of our lives, but what remains are the remnants of memory and lessons we learn during our time spent with them.
Alex rang me while I was out of the house today and said "There's an awesome surprise waiting for you when you get home." When he picked me up from the train station in the afternoon, he handed me a parcel - post from our dear friend Jiri, I opened it to see a wonderful surprise - a book by Vítězslav Nezval named 'Valerie and her week of Wonders'... I am really looking forward to reading it during the Christmas break, it's filled with themes of surrealism, fantasy and personal limits - all the things that fascinate me. I'm sure it will be nothing short of fantastic.
Jiri, endless thanks :o), for the lovely thought, the wonderful and amazing friendship and the lesson that one doesn't have to travel the world to find amazing friends...You are an absolute legend my friend. I hope all is well in Snowy Prague :o) Hugs from me, Alex and Chuy :o)
And my mates on and off flickr... muchos thank you's :o) You guys are the best!
