Fruit Loop

Ground squirrel with blue fruit loop. This guy was nick named "fatty fat" for being able to stuff his cheeks with massive amounts of seeds. Technically this is a ground squirrel and not a chipmunk because he is large and lacks the stripe on his head. Also mr fat is much bigger than a chipmunk

    Cute.

I read about an experiment in which researchers fed people steak in a dimly lit room and then raised the lights to show the meat was dyed blue. The subjects became physically ill when they saw they had been eating blue meat.

Apparently this squirrel is not so picky. (But I'm not certain it has color vision. Some tree squirrels do.)

Um, ya, I don't think I could eat blue steak. But I bet the researchers were amused. And I have always wondered how a black fizzy liquid became popular.

On a side note I was looking at your flickr stream and you may want to contribute some photos to wikimedia commons.

I create a membership renewal reminder postcard for the Elementary School Heads Association (ESHA) each year in June on the theme "We'd like to keep you in the loop." I'd love to use this shot for that purpose!

Here's the context that I have in mind:

    And here's info about ESHA (a non-profit): www.elementaryschoolheads.org.

@claudiadaggett - it is a "creative commons attribution" photo. So yes, feel free to use it. Just put "photo by Ed Schipul" with it or close enough that people know the source. Thanks!
