IMAG1337 red oak v-shaped connection with decay split red oak MNoaks

One of the problems associated with a v-shaped notch separating two trees originating from stump sprouts is decay between the stems caused by occluded / included bark. This decay can destabilize trees, making them more prone to blowdown.
