The Delta Air Lines inaugural Boeing 747 system route map, and Caribbean routes, from October 1970.
Delta introduced the 747 on a flight from Atlanta to Dallas Love Field and on to Los Angeles on 25 October 1970. The 370-seat jumbo jet would prove too large for the airline, prompting it to return the type to Boeing by April 1977.
Delta operated 137 aircraft, including its first two 747s as well as 41 DC-8s, 73 DC-9s and 16 Convair 880s, on 25 October 1970, Flight Fleets Analyzer shows.
