Dawn @ Canyon de Chelly, AZ
Funny how one can pre-visualize a shoot, and low and behold one comes away with something 180 degrees apart. My goal was to shoot sunrise at Spider Rock, an 800 foot spire that dominates the landscape here. But instead, I took this shot with my back to it, some 180 degrees away. Because of the prominent haze while shooting directly into the cloudless sunrise, all of my pre-imagined shots of light beams reaching out and touching Spider Rock were not to happen on this day. A few of the cottonwoods seen way down below, still in the canyon's shadows, were starting to turn.
