All your bokeh are belong to us

I've been wanting to get out for a night strobist / bokeh shot, but so far, the rain has been preventing me. After I put the boys to bed it wasn't raining, so I packed up and headed out. Right as I arrived on location, it started to pour. Sweet.

So, I drove over to the parking structure at the Roseville Galleria so I could take a picture under cover. This was taken on the 4th level looking out over the city.

I think this is the first time I've tried shooting at ISO 1600 with the D90. I'm pretty happy with the results.

Great bokeh, but i think the toy robot really steals the show here with its cutenes (as it should) ;)

hehehehe! your humor cracks me up..I see you got egg shape bokeh balls also...I get them sometimes also with the Sigma 150 depending on what aperture I am shooting at it seems..

    Have a good Tuesday!

sweet bokeh! Looking forward see those night strobist shot if the rain stops! :)
  • Eric Martin 5y

    Thanks everyone.

I didn't use a tripod and wish the sharpness of the robot was better. I thought using such a high ISO would be enough, but I guess I'm just not steady enough ;)

    here's a clue

The bokeh shapes are one mystery that I haven't figured out yet. Sometimes they are egg shaped, round, or hexagonal. I know the # of aperture blades has something to do with it, but other than that, I'm not sure. Anyone?

Great colors, and wonderful use of bokeh to tie it all together. Fantastic.

1600 looks pretty good! I love that little robot dude. Stinks that it rained on you, but the parking garage was a good idea.

    Oh, and good title. :P
