Hosta Flower, Unedited

Shot for a Daily Challenge of "Unedited" where no cropping, sharpening, etc could be done at all after taking the photo.

...this turned out to be an interesting exercise for me. I usually shoot RAW exclusively, but knowing that I couldn't touch it after taking the photo, I went with jpg for this shoot.

The reason for that was that when you shoot jpg the camera will do all kinds of sharpness, contrast, and saturation changes for you. So, I set my camera to jpg and set up a "User Defined" jpg setting that boosted sharpness, saturation, and contrast by 1 over normal, then did my shoot.

It came out fairly good although the background bugs me 'cause it's not 100% black -such a simple thing to fix in software, but with the lighting setup I have I just can't seem to get it any better in the camera. Oh well, like I said, some things were brought home to me with this little exercise, so I consider it a personal success. :-)
