November 20, 2010 – Ageless beauty piece is my twist on a copy from a black and white pencil sketch from the 1800’s. In the original sketch, the drawing had no background and only showed the woman’s face to her neck. In this painting I used a metallic paint to create a faint tapestry background. The woman is painted without using the colour black. I painted the woman as I envisioned her with the addition of colour. I wanted to paint this picture because I enjoy doing portraits and there was something that drew me to this sketch. I wanted to take what I saw and add some zest and life to the portrait. I achieved what I was after in this piece.
