Albert Joseph Moore 'A Reader' 1877

Albert Joseph Moore [English Classicist & Pre-Raphaelite Painter, 1841-1893]

Moore's early work is in the Pre-Raphaelite style, his later work and the style he is most associated with, is the Neo-Classical. His later paintings depict very carefully arranged figures, he was particularly interested colour and composition, rather than the theme or subject. He used a Greek anthemion (flower design) as a monogram and would incorporate it into a painting design.
