Eden 2008_S16109

The Eden Project in Cornwall. This view was taken in May before the hordes of summer visitors descended on the site, also before much of the colour in the outdoor areas appeared. On the left the stage and exhibition centre is used for a variety of events, such as the Eden Sessions in the summer and ice skating in the winter. The furthest biome in this shot is the Rainforest Biome, the largest of the biomes, and the closer biome is the Mediterranean Biome. The building in the foreground is The Core, an exhibit in itself being based on plant structure. The Core is the education centre for Eden, with a variety of exhibits on conservation, feeding the world, global warming etc., and at the heart of The Core is Seed, a 70 tonne sculpture hewn from a 300 million year old piece of Cornish granite.

We almost went last week- and then decided against it, it is a very long drive from Suffolk, and we were afraid it'd be really crowded as it was a Bank holiday weekend.
    MAybe another time!

It's matured a bit since I was there last, probably around 2001/2 - they hadn't finished planting up the outside area then. I don't remember The Core at all. Great shot of the overall site.
