I met Anthony in November of 2008. He was hanging out at Newark Penn station, looking for a job, usually helping people with luggage in exchange of petty change or cleaning driveways. But generally he would just be hanging out, walking around. I saw him again, a few days ago, after almost 7 months. He was happy that I remembered his face, and his name. He gave me a warm hug and had a big smile of satisfaction on his face. He poured some sandalwood oil in my palm and told me to rub it onto my clothes and my hands. I was waiting for my bus which was supposed to take me Upstate NY, and meanwhile we shared a bottle of juice and a sandwich. He told me about his parents, and how tough it has been to get through the winter, the conditions at the shelter in which he lives, his dreams, and desire to have a family... one day [...]
