Dala Horse

    Newer Older

My love of Swedish items and Dala horses started when I was a kid. In Connecticut, my native land, there was this wonderful shop which only carried Swedish made items. It was located in a little town and sat on a corner set back among the trees.

Inside, the shop was filled to the rafters with perfectly organized products made in Sweden. Every time I went there I thought I died and went to Heaven.

This was my first Dala horse, which is a candle holder. I bought it with my allowance and my Mom’s help when I was 14-ish. It has remained in almost perfect condition with its colors just as bright and cheerful as the day I bought it.
