Ultra-High Vacuum, Low Temperature Scanning Probe Microscope (UHV LT SPM) 7658
EMSL researchers at the control area of the ultra-high vacuum, low temperature scanning probe microscope housed in EMSL’s Quiet Wing. EMSL’s UHV LT SPM is the preeminent system for probing single-site chemical reactivity. The microscope provides a unique combination of tools to examine the molecular details of chemical reactions important for catalysis and photocatalysis. It enhances the ability to measure the vibrational properties of reacting molecules, and enables detailed measurements of nucleation and growth processes important for materials synthesis. EMSL is a Department of Energy national scientific user facility located at PNNL.
