Deinococcus Radiodurans

Deinococcus radiodurans is a bacterium that can survive thousands of times more radiation exposure than a human. Scientists using resources at the Environmental Molecular Sciences Laboratory or EMSL have conducted numerous studies into the biology of this microbe, which could lead to novel bioremediation methods and strategies that protect humans from the deleterious effects of ionizing radiation.
