Part V of my project "Commissioned Work": I asked a couple of friends to suggest me a topic for a photo. to. gian wanted to see spring in the countryside.
This is Grüner See („Green Lake“) near Tragöß, Styria (Austria), 776 m above sea level. It dries out almost completely in autumn and starts filling up again when the snow melts. In May and June, when the water level is highest, even trees, bridges, hiking trails and benches, which otherwise are situated around the lake, are under water. Due to the rocks on the bottom and the refraction of the light the water seems to have a turquoise colour. Since visibility underwater is excellent, the lake is very popular among divers.
The mountain in the upper picture which rises directly behind the lake is the Meßnerin (1835 m). It is part of the Hochschwab massif, a mountain range in the Northern Limestone Alps.
