The Ascent (10 of 12)
Another microlandscape :) This was inspired by some hiking in the Swiss alps during a family vacation, and the change in climate as altitude changes. This effect is obviously grossly exaggerated here for dramatic effect.
The height differences in this build is quite a lot bigger than I usually build and this was an interesting challenge. I felt I had to constantly push myself to keep gaining altitude as I built, as my gut reaction was to make the inclination less sharp. I also was a bit at a loss of what to do with the sides of the build. I definitely didn't want a big, grey wall on the sides and in the back, partly because it is parts intensive, but mostly because I feel it would detract from the flow of the build. My solution was the arch shape which I kinda like even if it makes the build feel less like a mountian. Next time perhaps I'll build a whole, 360 mountain then I don't have to worry about it :)
I also included my ninja horn tree here, and hopefully it doesn't look too out of place despite being quite a bit larger than the other trees.
