I had the opportunity to live in Kyiv, Ukraine from October 2004-April 2005. The Orange Revolution (Ukraine’s demonstrations for free and fair Elections took place in November and December 2005. It was an amazing experience to see the thousands of people come together to stand up for what they believed in, in such a peaceful yet enthusiastic way! Music played almost constantly in Independence Square and people chanted “Youshchenko” and dressed in orange (the color of his party)
I had many opportunities to go down there and photograph. Unfortunately, I was very new to digital photography having obtained my first digital camera in October, just before moving there. I had no experience shooting a photojournalist type event and would have taken 100 times more photos if I could do it again, but I think I got a few that are ok.
