Krýsuvíkurkirkja

Built in 1857, this is a typical Icelandic country church.

I had an AMAZING time in Iceland. It was nothing like I imagined it to be but stil very beautiful (and COLD & WINDY!!!). I feel very fortunate that I got the chance to experience this trip and I wouldn't want to have missed it for the world. Going on a vacation with four total strangers can be quite difficult but I felt comfortable from the moment we met (one of the editors of the magazine I'd already met the week before when I won the camera).

I took lots of photos and I've seen a pretty large part of Iceland. The nature is breathtakingly beautiful but also really strange and desolate and nothing like I'm used to. You can drive for hours without seeing a house or a person on the streets. They don't have highways and villages there are scarce and really small. I often felt like I travelled back in time and I was waiting for a dinosaur to pop up from behind the great black mountains any time.

This photo was taken yesterday on or way from Fludir to Reykjavik. It is not the best photo I took (more to come!!), but it does depict the feeling I got there the best. I will definitely go back there in the summer time.

More photos (also some group photos) will follow this week!

Oh and what idiot took my screenname "elusive." while I was gone?!
