Grain Elevator - Channeled Scablands - Washington State

This old homestead lies within the channeled scablands of the Columbia Basin, a region formed by Ice Age catastrophic floods. The grain elevator in the photo was built on a shelf within a small coulee and the home and outbuildings are located to the left (just out of the picture) at the bottom. The volcanic soil is rich in nutrients and many natural springs can be found here.
