I'm experimenting with color variations of the offset square pattern, as seen here.

This one has the black lines going over the red lines. I kind of like that look, but think I need to fill in the solid-white squares with a different color, probably black.

I'm looking for a certain look, and I haven't found it yet, but I think I'm getting closer. I'm pretty limited in my color selection, for now, which is why everything is white, black, or dark red. :-)

This is freaking bad ass. It totally has the illusion of three dimensionality.

Yeah, this one is even cooler then the black and white one. :D

Thanks guys! When I first made the pattern, I didn't think of it as potentially 3-D, but once I started playing with the colors I realized it could potentially turn out that way. I don't think I ever got it quite as 3-D as I liked, but it still turned out to be pretty fun. :-)

Wow, this is incredible! Is it all fully connected/one-piece?
  • Katie Walker 5y

Thanks, Casey! This version isn't all fully connected; the nine black squares are "loose". But you can fasten those squares to a baseplate if you change them to a 2x2 studs-up orientation, as seen in this photo:

(The colors are slightly different in that photo.) From there I think it'd be pretty easy to fasten the whole pattern to the back baseplate as well to make it completely connected.

    Ahhhh, I see! Neat!
