100 days to go
Marking 100 days to go to the London 2012 Olympic Games at the Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew: people getting ready to welcome the world in 2012. In the rings: athletes families, Torchbearers, Games Maker volunteers, London 2012 Festival participants (including Jennie Harrington, English National Ballet, the West London Hub for Big Dance in 2012) and schoolchildren from Julians Primary School in Lambeth.
The rings, which are 15.5m each in circumference, will be made up of 20,000 plants and will be visible from the Heathrow flight path. The flowers were planted over a period of five days by a team of volunteers and Kew staff and consist of Viola 'Blue For You', Viola 'Clear Yellow', Viola 'Black Delight', apple mint (Mentha suaveolens) and Viola 'Red Blotch' plants.
