Tour de France Team Sky Dieppe
Last week I took the ferry from Newhaven to Dieppe to stay there 5 days and take in the Tour de France as it came through the area including the coast road through Dieppe.
The picture was taken handheld with a Sony A700 with a Sigma 10-20 wide angle zoom at 10mm. I used ISO 400 to gain a high shutter speed of 1/500th second. The image was opened in Camera Raw and 2 additional images were created at +2EV and -2Ev for a “false HDR” with each image having Noiseware Pro applied. A Photoshop action I had saved was used to create the extra images automatically. The images were saved as tiffs.
The HDR was created using Photmatix. In Photoshop a pan blur was applied using Topaz lens effects. A layer mask was used to remove the blur 60% for the background cyclists and 100% for the 4 Team Sky riders to make them stand out. This involved a lot of fine detail level brush work on the layer mask.
The second Team Sky rider from the left is Bradley Wiggins UK favourite for the overall win who a few days after this picture gained the Yellow Jersey for current Race Leader. The Team Sky riders all wear yellow helmets to designate their team are the current leaders in the Team Classification of the race.
There is a substantial difference from the original image. Full details of the processing together with before and after images are on my Blog
