in the air! ~ Explored

Took several attempts to get this (balloons kept bursting whilst I walked to the rig). Don't know if I like having the balloon remnant, but think it works well in this case. You can see my thumb is slightly stained from the previous shots ;)

Seeing what I can do with colour in these shots. So happy it's getting warm enough to do these again. Had lots of fun setting these up and making a mess.

Strobist: SB600 on camera right, gobo'd, on 1/64th power. SB800 on camera left, 1/64th, gelled yellow, gobo'd on to white background at rear. Retouching in Aperture. Colours as shot, not artificially added.

I'm not convinced my flashes are in perfect sync. The 'halos' around the droplets aren't artefacts from edits, but as shot. Certainly a third flash for fill would be a welcome addition.

      EXPLORED! - yay thanks all.

thanks for the comments. It was a really successful shoot, and I've got several more I'm looking forward to posting.

I was determined to get this 'blue on yellow' shot, and ended up using the entire bottle of food die ;)

Wow, gorgeous shot! I love your balloon images - so imaginative. If you don't mind me asking, how do you puncture the balloons?

The dark and light contrasts of the water are great!

Looks like a fuzzy fruit, kinda like a purple coconut.

It would be great to see really big prints of these, to be able to see the droplets in detail. If you ever have an exhibition, let me know, as I live in London!
