Oregon Grape after Rain
I did some pretty extensive touch-up with Lightroom’s adjustment brush for this one. I painted in the adjustment brush region for the background and then set it to lower exposure and highlights to preserve emphasis on the leaves. Also did some tone mapping to emphasize the water droplets and leaf texture.
For me, the digital darkroom is an important part of the process from eyeball to screen. I want to preserve my impression of the scene as it was when I walked in the woods with my nose and two eyes on a head that is moving within the three dimensional forest space. Sometimes that calls for giving a bit of help to the basic flat capture on the image sensor.
