Sony NEX-5N

    Newer Older

Now that I've had a chance to shoot nearly a thousand pix over the last couple weeks, I've got to say I am really digging this new camera. It's a MILC (mirrorless interchangeable-lens camera) which is a type of camera I've never handled before. I'd never heard of this category until I went shopping for a new camera a few months ago. It something halfway between a DSLR and a compact camera.

It belongs to the University, so most of my photos here on Flickr will continue to be taken with my personal cam (a Sony DSC-HX5V) but I'm sure I'll slip in some shots from this one from time to time.

What have been the highlights of this camera over other styles B? I've been considering one for my next camera purchase.

I guess the main thing is the ability to take lots of pix very quickly with no lag time. It also has a good lens and a bigger sensor which means better performance in low-light situations. Since I primarily use this for photographing in somewhat dim classrooms, that's a big plus.
