Jesse Powell House, ca. 1795, 1810 and 1855: Dawson's Crossroads near Scotland Neck, NC

This house was built in three stages. The rear is Georgian and was constructed in 1795. The first front section was a Roanoke Valley tripartite house with its two story central section with one story wings on each end, likely built around 1810. In 1855, the one story wings were raised to full two stories, transforming the house into its current appearance. It has been vacant and abandoned for many years.
