Harriet's House

According to Storied City: A Children's Book Walking-Tour Guide to New York City, this building is the most likely inspiration for the home of the title character in the novel Harriet the Spy. "Harriet's" window can be seen in the top-right corner.

The house is part of the Henderson Place Historic District, a group of Queen Anne row houses from the early 1880s. Henderson Place, a cul-de-sac on the interior of this block, may form the basis of the courtyard that is the opening location of the book.
