Eden and Finnegan on the High Line

Their dads took them to visit New York City's newest park, the High Line, built atop an abandoned elevated train line that runs from the Meatpacking District through Chelsea up to Hell's Kitchen. Like seemingly everybody else, they loved it.

My one disappointment was that it seemed to be entirely relandscaped--there didn't seem to be anything left of the vegetation that naturally recolonized the trainbed when it was abandoned. (I'd be happy to be corrected on this.) It does strike me that the dirt that accumulated on the High Line during its abandoned decades was likely pretty toxic, so maybe they had to clear it out and start over. Still, it's a bit of a shame.
