even though the poor don't live in venice, some manage to come out and beg on the streets where majority of tourists walk by. Unfortunately the 'poor' is not represented by any kind of actual poor people. the poor in venice are in fact gypsies. the same pick-pocketing gypsies that will snatch your bag and run. there were a lot of them in Venice and all of them dress the same. they dare not show their face, in fact most beg with their faces flat on the filthiest of floors but the hand is always up and out asking for money. They play on being pitiful but i had to resist on biting into their game. They are one of the reasons why you have to be cautious when you walk around with your stuff.

despite the fact that the begging in itself is an act, i cannot pull away from the story this picture tends to bring. it is in itself a reflection of the current state of many countiries' economy, and how much wider the separation between rich and not rich is becoming in these countries.
