There seems to be alot of mixed emotions about your wasp but I have to say I love it and think your dof was great. Vivid colouring. Excellent shot. Keep up the good work.

Was in Southern Illinois this week-end and came across one of these ants. Put it in a container and brought it for my grandson, in Northern Illinois, to show his teacher. They found the name and thought it was very interesting. The coloring is beautiful.

The only word you really need for this insect is "pain". I found that out the hard way as a child lol Nice pic :)

In North Central Arkansas we have a lot of these Cow Killer Ants. The ones I see around my house are a bright orange. I stepped on one barefooted when i was about 7 yrs. old and thought i would die. I've lived in the country most all of my life and I've been stung by every thing at one time or another but believe me nothing can compare to getting stung by one of these things. I guess thats why their named "Cow Killer Ant". One probably killed a cow. I believe it could happen especially if it had a reaction to the poison. The pain alone is excruciating. Anyway I learned my lession I never go out side barefooted any more and I try to kill everyone of them things I see.
