My first trip to Germany - Day 1: Basilika Ottobeuren

This is just a quick post to show something from my holiday as I've only been back a few hours. It was taken on the first day (Basilika Ottobeuren church) a few miles away from where I was staying. The village I stayed at also had a very pretty church, I will post some images from there soon (I only went there on my last day - today actually =).

I decided not to take my tripod on this holiday because I knew I'd be exploring with friends who were not photographers. Using the tripod makes me about 3 times slower than I am normally so I decided against it. I regretted not bringing it on several occations because I ended up taking a lot of HDRs but I managed ok. I used a lot of fence posts, gates, walls and a little sniper training to keep that damn camera steady during the brackets.

I loved the paintings in this place! Unfortunately they were cleaning the church when I went here so I had to take the pictures through the bars of the gates but it was actually useful for keeping the camera steady =).
