      Since I got all retouching crazy, I might as well post the original. It wasn't a bad photo but standing right next to the Enid A. Haupt Conservatory with"Monet's Garden" inside, I decided I wanted to recapture my memories of visiting Giverny around twenty years ago.

      I'm not much for retouching, don't even own Photoshop but remembering that view, learning that what I once thought was an abstract water surface looked almost exactly the way Monet painted the water surrounded by willow trees. So I tried to add a little flair to this;

      I had already copied Monet in one respect. Like many of his Nympheas that he painted in his later years there was no shoreline or borders to place the viewer on solid ground. I was just staring into the water to see what I could see and remembering his greatness. Going back to my own experience of learning that Monet's water surfaces were never as abstract as I'd thought.

      I think ol' Claude Monet would be impressed with your photo of water lilies and koi...!

      I'm impressed, and I love this photo! :-) The color and the light are fabulous!
