gotta see this large... | original | My top 100

It has been some time since I posted a new dewdrop. Hope you like it. Shot this morning at seven am as I was waking and thinking about politics. I became distracted by the scattered light on the lawn. The flower is a bluebell. very small, perhaps 2-3mm in diameter.

Dewdrops are very tiny. Average cameras will not capture this well. Look for a camera with a good macro function if you are using point and shoot. In DSLR get a macro lens.

This is cropped from an unaided Canon G10 Macro mode RAW shot. Love this camera.

If you like drops, check out my set of over 1000 dropshots called A Thousand Drops of Light.

Dewdrops are lenses. the image you see is not a reflection. It is light passing through the water drop. The waterdrop is a lens. This is a "refraction" have fun.

Hail the jewel in the lotus!

Note how the blade (of grass ?) on the right is upside down from the left (in the background).

But the droplet has no "warping" where it is distorted by contact with the long narrow leaflet . . .

  13. ecstaticist 30 months ago | reply

In this case there is no warping or elongation visible because we are partially looking down on the point of contact. Not sidelong as in most shots of this genre. I have another like this I will post below.

  14. ecstaticist 30 months ago | reply

A little distortion there but also very round. Downward angle.
