French Doctor Who Poster

Newer Older

I picked this up at a SciFi convention in NYC over 20 years ago. It's framed and hanging in my office now.
Yes, I do have 4th Doctor Who Scarf too...

Using this tool, I found out that this photo made the flickr explore page on December 6, 2005.

Hello! I'm glad you & several others here have kept this little treasure. I was lucky enough, back in the 80s when Tom Baker was doing lots of cons, to have become a friend of the artist who created this poster. She also designed costumes, as well as other things - just an incredibly creative lady.

Anyway, Tom liked the poster very much. Mine is autographed by him - twice actually. The first time, the pen didn't work on the paper, so we had to find someone with a Sharpie. Tom thought it was a great joke - said that he never autographed anything twice, so now I had a collector's item. lol!

This is a lovely poster, any chance of a better quality shot of it?

Fabulous poster, surely they should re-issue it.

It's based on Toulouse-Lautrec's Ambassadeurs: Aristide Bruant dans son cabaret which you can see at wikipedia here: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Aristide_Bruant

    Genius!

Man-I had this poster taped to my wall next to a Pink Floyd poster. It was 1985, I think. (I was 15.) Either I got it at a sci fi convention in Sacramento when I went to see Peter with my boyfriend and brother, or the local PBS station gave it away if you pledged some money-other enticements included cheesy tardis mugs that turned color from hot liquids and some bad sweatshirts with the who logo-My brother got those! Those were the days when you had to watch Dr. Who late at night on a pbs station. Hey, I would also stay up past midnight to watch letterman in those days too.
Now that my oldest son is watching the new who, it would be a kick to have this poster hanging in the corner of my house somewhere. It's been hard to find considering it was mass produced in the 1980s. I'll keep looking for cheesy nostalgia sake . . .

Hey there all Whovians... Back in my salad days of the 80s I used to have a copy of this delightful poster... and I would very much love to obtain another one. Does anyone here have any idea whence, or from whom, I could buy one? I've been monitoring eBay, doing periodic web searches... and Nada. Do get back to me if you have any info that could help, and thanks! John Marmaro, Spring Hill, FL, jpmarmaro@netscape.com

What the previous commenter said! I had this poster once upon a time, and am *furious* with myself for not taking better care of my copy... Any suggestions, anyone?

I love it! I painted a colorized version of that
    same poster many years ago.

I used to have this in my room as a teen. I would love to know what happened to it.

My wife had one of these until this morning. She was sorting posters yesterday evening, and at some point during the night, our cat barfed all over it. I'm looking for a replacement, now. :-/
