seeing red

    Newer Older

hehe i have a lot of shots of these guys, so i promise this is the last one (for a bit!)

the above is him munching on a monkey nut – it was quite funny that they often took the nuts and ran a bit further down the wall to open them – leaving a big pile of shells – before running off to bury them!

we did wonder why they didn’t bury them in the shells?

and the below shows one rubbing his head on the wall as he ran – as i mentioned yesterday, we think this may have been a scent marking thing?

I don't think I could tire of seeing these beautiful little creatures!! How lucky are you to see these .. More I say !! :o)
My chipmunks run along rubbing their faces along any surface .. must be a squirrel scenting thing but they do a grand job of dusting the high places I might of missed in my living room !! lol

Need to dig a bigger hole to bury the shell too. And I'd imagine that opening them up in the summer when food is plentiful expends energy easily replaced, while in winter that would be a bit harder. Just guesses, I don't actually know. :)

Very clear accurate photos. The moss and fluffy hair go really well together and the neutral background really helps to illuninate the colours.
