"will you walk into my parlour?" said the spider to the fly*
i took these on sunday at brockadale, moonrhino (jonathan) had lent me his extension tubes and i spent a good few hours practicing with them!
i was surprised to see this little fella as id only seen photos of them before – and they always seemed to be white?
this is a crab spider
i watched him standing on a flower head and every time a fly landed on it he moved his ‘claws’ towards it (see below)
funny story though! – i must have been watching it for about 30 mins, and a few times he came close to catching a fly but it didn’t come close enough, then just as he was getting very close to one – even rearing up to get ready to pounce – a dog ran up to me and knocked everything everywhere! when the dog ran off the spider was nowhere to be seen!
