Does Cob Burn?
This is an album about a Dorset Longhouse which has lived for about 500 years and recently burned down. At least everything but the walls did.
After a year of negotiation with local authorities in which quite a few agencies were involved rebuilding could begin. Under the UK system of buildings listing original materials had to be used, cob replaced with cob, oak beams with oak.
This level of control is at once frustrating, shouldn't we be free to do what we want?, and at the same time a relief that our cultural heritage isn't getting covered over with concrete...
