Bokor in Blue 2006
Bokor Hill Station, Cambodia

Bokor is a haunted and beautiful place, colonial buildings close to the clouds of southern Cambodia. Built in the early 20th century, it was a fashionable retreat from sweltering summers for the French - and, later, Cambodian - elite.

Only mist-shrouded ruins remain of these extravagant structures, including a once famous casino and holiday homes.

These stately houses are now abandoned on the windy peaks of a national park. They bear the marks of Khmer Rouge and Vietnamese conflicts from a generation ago, and the contemporary graffiti of a few hardy visitors from Cambodia and beyond.
