      Dave, I thought that SOUJUCK was a Balkan sausage. That does not look like sausage; it looks more like nut-stuffed dates.

      The word describes both a sausage and a confection:

      The counterwoman was very short with me when I asked why the name was applied to both a sausage and a sweet, but a customer told me that "soujuck," as Baruir spells it, refers to the oblong shape. He didn't speak enough English, though, to provide a direct translation.
