This is one of two beautiful white tigers at McCarthy's Wildlife Sanctuary in West Palm Beach, FL US. It is not easy to get pictures like these, as they have large chain-link fence enclosures, much like the zoos. I have found McCarthy's (a family owned and operated facility) to be a place that treats their animals with great care, dignity and respect. They take in abandoned, exotic animals that people can no longer care for and open their facilities periodically to the public. I have had the wonderful experience of taking my grandson there twice to romp with tiger cubs that were acquired by the Sanctuary. It was the most amazing experience to have them sit on our laps, let us pet them and interact with them. Of course, it is supervised and very controlled, but that is fine by me (even at 3 months old, the cubs can do some damage and my grandson is only 5 years old). I am sure it is a time my grandson and I will cherish forever. They have had some of their animals for a very long time and they all appear to be healthy and well-cared for. If you are visiting or live in the area, I highly recommend the experience...they do charge for admittance and a seperate charge for "romping with the cubs" ...if they have any cubs. We have gone back to see the cubs when they were grown and it is amazing how fast the get very big, so after 3 months, they can no longer allow the romp experience. You can view more of the animals and cubs we romped with in my "McCarthy's" set.
