I envy those that can take a really great macro shot. I like this one, but to me, it's only good. I supposed I could say that I don't have a macro lense and that using my 24-70mm with a minimum focus distance of 0.7 feet doesn't really allow me to shoot macro, but the fact is that even if I had a good macro lens I'd still be lucky to get a "good" shot. I'll keep studying those that take great macros here on Flickr and perhaps someday I'll have something worthy of note. ;-)
If you have any thoughts, comments, or critiques, I'd love to read them. My last B&W photo that I posted netted me some fantastic feedback and I truly appreciate that.
Oh, I guess I should say that this is a shot I took of the snowflake-like frost that had grown on the snowbank along Highway 21 on the drive back from the Sawtooths last weekend. I tried to find a spot that was on the sloping bank giving it nice side lighting with some highlights and shadows. I spent about 15 minutes shooting a multitude of handheld shots (about 60 all told) and this was my favorite. Thank goodness for digital, as I NEVER would have experimented like this back in the film days.
