M&M Cookies

My brother graduated with his BA this weekend and a party was thrown in his honor. My contribution was a huge batch of his favorite cookie. I doubled this recipe and it yielded at least five dozen 3" cookies. They were wonderful and not a single one was left, much to his disappointment! The recipe is below.


Preheat oven to 375.


1 c. granulated sugar

1 c. packed brown sugar

1 c. butter flavored shortening (Crisco)

2 eggs

2 tsp. vanilla

2 1/4 c. all-purpose flour

1 1/2 tsp. salt

1 tsp. baking soda

1 14oz bag M&Ms


In large bowl, cream together sugars, eggs, shortening, and vanilla. In another bowl stir well the dry ingredients. Gradually add to creamed mixture. Once thoroughly combined, add M&Ms (use more or less to your liking). Drop by teaspoonful onto ungreased foil or parchment-lined baking sheets, leaving 2 inches between each. Bake for 8-10 minutes or until bottoms are golden brown. Leave on cookie sheet for two minutes before transferring to wire rack to cool. Store in airtight container if not devoured within a few minutes!
