Zandsculpturen Garderen: 75 years of freedom
The Second World War left deep marks in Gelderland. The Dutch province was front line for 9 months.
From September 1944 to May 1945, Gelderland was the center of the liberation struggle in the Netherlands.
It started with Operation Market Garden and ended with the German surrender. Large parts of the province were in the front area. There were evacuations, flooding and destruction.
In 2019 and 2020 the province commemorates W.W.2 and celebrate 75 years of freedom.
